The universal GP Training website for everyone, not just Bradford.   Created in 2002 by Dr Ramesh Mehay

When creating webpages in Elementor, it is really important to work out the anatomy of your webpage.  This is the common structure that all your pages will have.  Sometimes, your specific requirements might be such that you need 2 to 4 types of template pages.   For each, you will need to sit down and carefully work out the anatomy of each.   Spend time on it and get it right, because if you get the foundation right from the start, your house will not crumble and fall!   It saves so much patchwork headache in the end.

So by getting the anatomy right, I mean work out the structure of the page.  Will there be a page title (usually yes)?  What about subtext or subcategory?   Will there be a downloads section?   What will the main content headings look like?  What about the content text?

When looking at EACH of these elements, you need to work out THREE things.

  1. What colour will the text be
  2. What font settings will the text be (size, weight etc)
  3. And you will need to work out each of these for – DESKTOP, TABLET and MOBILE PHONE (otherwise the desktop settings will look crazy on a mobile phone).  Don’t forget, most people now surface the web on their phones and tablets!  So – YOU NEED TO DO THIS.   Yes, this is hard work, but you only need to do it the ONCE.

And Elementor makes it easier for you to do this by something called GLOBAL FONTS and GLOBAL COLOURS.  Basically, you can set the GLOBAL COLOUR for say the Title of of all your pages.  You can then set the GLOBAL FONT for the Title of all your pages.    There are two advantages to this…

  1. You do not need to tediously set the individual Font and Colour components of every (say) Title of a page.   The global fonts and colours will do it for you.
  2. If in the future you want to change say the colour of the Title of all your pages – you just change the setting in the Global Colour section rather than going through every webpage of your site.  Imagine a site like this one you are reading now – over 300 pages – imagine the time saved by changing all the pages just from one section!

Here are my settings for this website.  If you want to learn more about Global Fonts and Global Colours first, type in “Elementor Global Fonts Colours” into YouTube.   I’ve created this page as a reference for me in the future, and you may want to do something similar for your website.

How IT ALL STARTED
WHAT WE'RE ABOUT
WHO ARE WE FOR?

Bradford VTS was created by Dr. Ramesh Mehay, a Programme Director for Bradford GP Training Scheme back in 2001. Over the years, it has seen many permutations.  At the time, there were very few resources for GP trainees and their trainers so Bradford decided to create one FOR EVERYONE.

So, we see Bradford VTS as  the INDEPENDENT vocational training scheme website providing a wealth of free medical resources for GP trainees, their trainers and TPDs everywhere and anywhere.  We also welcome other health professionals – as we know the site is used by both those qualified and in training – such as Associate Physicians, ANPs, Medical & Nursing Students.

Our fundamental belief is to openly and freely share knowledge to help learn and develop with each other.  Feel free to use the information – as long as it is not for a commercial purpose.

We have a wealth of downloadable resources and we also welcome copyright-free educational material from all our users to help build our rich resource (send to bradfordvts@gmail.com).

Our sections on (medical) COMMUNICATION SKILLS and (medical) TEACHING & LEARNING are perhaps the best and most comprehensive on the world wide web (see white-on-black menu header section on the homepage).
